How’s that Mr. Pres?

Filed under: Politics — don @ 3:32 pm

Obama said this a few days ago about businesses.

“There will be time for them to make profits, and there will be time for them to get bonuses — now is not that time.”

Excuse me? So Obama doesn’t think now is the time for business to make a profit? Why would you run a business if not to make a profit? Does anyone else think Intel shouldn’t try to make a profit? Does anyone else think Microsoft shouldn’t try to make a profit? How about Boeing? How about the company you work for?

This should give those of you who love Socialism a tingly feeling in your leg. Obama is moving us towards being France.

Blagojevich 0 – People of IL 59

Filed under: Politics — don @ 4:19 pm

The wacky Gov of IL, also known as a buddy of our President, today was voted out of office by the senate in IL. This is about the 4th or 5th IL official that has ended up in disgrace recently. It’s not all Dems either, one of them was a Republican.

What this shows is people who try to take advantage of the power bestowed upon them by the electorate will usually end up regretting it. That said, I’m not sure Blago understands just what he did.

Enjoy the honeymoon

It may not last as long as you hope.

I hope Obama is successful in his presidency. I find most Conservatives feel similar to me. We hope he does well but we also understand the left’s euphoria is likely to end at sometime not too distant. Obama is not Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, and MLK all in one person like the left seems to think. I saw so many people grinning today as if all their troubles are behind them now that Obamessiah is in the house.

Guess what. He’s not going to be able to do any more than any other President. The troubles he faces are not going to go away just because Obamessiah is in office. He’s also going to have to realize he can’t just “Change” everything put in place in one fell swoop like Moveon.org would like. He will have to do things slowly or he’ll find himself in big trouble.

I wish him well and won’t do what the left did to Bush unless he ends up deserving it. I don’t expect that, but I also don’t expect the miracles like the left does.

Out on a Limb

Ok, I’m gonna make a bold prediction about who’s going to win American Idol this year. I predict it will be Casey Carlson. This girl is not only drop dead gorgeous but she can sing too. I’ve got a link to her Fanclub Website over in the sidebar.

Miracle on the Hudson

That is amazing. A friend of mine is a flight attendant for US Airways but I knew he flys in smaller planes. It was still a little nerve racking until we heard from him.

Gaza

So the way I understand it is this. If Hamas lays down their weapons there will be peace. If Israel lays down their weapons there will be no more Israel.

And the MSM seems to think Israel is the bad guy in this.

I won?

Filed under: Nothing — don @ 8:03 pm

Yes, I won in an online contest. Ok I didn’t win a lot but it wasn’t chopped liver either.

A friend of mine entered my name to send an invite to play this online game and so I did. I didn’t know how real it was but it only took a minute and when I finished it said I had won a Corsair Power Supply. I really didn’t think it was real but today I got an email asking me to send my info so they could send the power supply. I asked the guy who had put my name in and he said he won a Grid Game and yes they were legit.

I put in 6 people’s email so if you get something from Palit Multimedia talking about the Palit Monster Mash you too could win.

Windows something or other

Filed under: Geek — don @ 6:23 pm

I wanted to make the title say Windows Vista7 but I don’t know how to make a line in the title. I’m currently installing Windows 7 on one of my newer machines. It’s not my best machine but it is running a Core 2 Duo and it’s got around 2 GB of RAM so it should work fine.

I’ve been running Vista for close to a year now and I actually like it. Vista got a very bad rap and I’m not really sure why. It does take a little getting used to especially if you moved from Win 2000. It’s not a lot different from XP except it asks you everytime it thinks you might be doing something stupid. I turned that off as soon as I found out how.

Now that Windows 7 is available as a public beta I figured I might as well try it. I’ll report on what I think once I’ve played with it a bit. It’s in the middle of the installation now.
