Miracle Labs

As some of you know I’ve been involved with a game called Counter-Strike and more specifically a plugin for that game called the Eventscripts Plugin. Basically the plugin allows people to change how the game acts depending on “events” and stuff happening.

My point is not about the plugin but about the guy who wrote it. His name is Mattie and he is a good friend of mine. I have become his friend and vice versa because of my participation in his Eventscript forum but in the past few years he has been doing some really cool and fun stuff on the web.

Enter Miracle Labs. That is what he calls his “company”. It consist of Mattie, a couple of his friends(Glenn and Ted), and his wife Helen. So far they have created several interesting and useful web sites.

The first one I knew about is called Bug.gd. That is a site that you can search to see if anyone else has seen a particular error or problem you’ve run into. The interesting part is it will optionally send you an email a few days after your visit if it didn’t help to see if you solved the problem.

Another is called ri.ms. It is a site similar to tinyurl.com that will shrink a url. It’s very useful for people who use Twitter because you only get 140 letter per post.

Their latest foray is called YumBunny. This is a dating/meeting site with a twist. It shows 2 people and asks if they look good together. You click Yes, maybe, or No. I’m still a little unclear on how it tells people they might match up but hopefully it takes off.

These are all intersting “Experiments” by Miracle Labs. I hope they do well. Below is the YumBunny thing.

“New” Dishwasher

Filed under: Life — don @ 12:49 am

We cleaned the garage today. Well, Jenny, Micah(Jenny’s friend), Ann, and Betty did most of the cleaning. Actually Jenny and Micah but Ann and Betty did some. Patrick did some too but he was the most help on the dishwasher.

Ok, I’ll start at the beginning. A few years before we moved into this house we bought a new GE Quiet Power Dishwasher. It was a very nice model but had a few problems which were covered by the warranty. When we bought the house and moved in there was already a Kenmore dishwasher so we put the GE in the garage. I’ve been planning to replace the Kenmore for a long time but as long as it was working I couldn’t quite justify the effort.

Finally this week I was told the soap dispenser wouldn’t open anymore. I figured this was a perfect time to do the job and I wanted to get the garage cleaned out too. Since the GE was all the way in the back it was perfect.

I got a small trash bin delivered yesterday and then today we all went to work.

I had to go to Home Depot to get the fittings to plumb it. I just needed a few adapters and the old one was actually hard wired into the wall. I got an electrical box and just put an outlet in it and left it under the washer.

Patrick helped a LOT with getting under the sink and unhooking/hooking hoses. He’s a bit smaller than me so it was easier for him to do.

We now have a “New” 12 year old dishwasher installed. I was a little worried that the hoses would be brittle but everything seems fine. It ran through it’s cycle and seems to work like it should. I’ll take a picture later. It’s not quite straight so I need to move one of the brackets before I do.

Stimulus signed. DOW drops almost 300 pts.

Filed under: Nothing — don @ 8:36 pm

Today marks a sad day in our country. We took the first step to becoming a Socialist country. We aren’t there but we are a lot closer than we were yesterday.

The DOW dropped 297 points today. Seems like maybe Wall St. knows this isn’t the right thing to do too.

Hey Libs, happy with this?

An 1,100 page bill was brought out last night and today it was passed in Congress. You do realize nobody who voted for this bill read it, right? Does that bother you in the least? You also know that no Republican Representative voted for this bill, right? They didn’t vote for it because they don’t know what’s in it. They do know there is a ton of earmarks and pork in spite of our glorious President telling us otherwise. But they don’t know what is in it that’s going to save the country. And it had to be passed in less than 24 hours in spite of being told by our glorious President that they and we would have 48 hours to read it before they voted.

I hope you’re happy with what you voted in. We are stuck with it for a while. At least admit our new President lied to us. You can’t argue that.

Crazy Democrats!

Filed under: Politics — don @ 9:03 pm

Let me see if I’ve got this correct. The spendulus bill is going to be roughly 1 Trillion dollars or more after you ad in the interest. Obama says it’s going to create 3 to 4 million jobs. Most economists think that’s a bit optimistic and that it will probably only create 1 to 2 million.

Let’s give Obama the benefit of the doubt and say it’s 4 million. If I do just a little math here’s what I come up with.

1,000,000,000,000 divided by 4,000,000 equals 250,000. That means each new job created has cost the country $250,000. If the 1 million new jobs number is correct then it will cost $1,000,000 or 1 million dollars per job.

I don’t know about you but I’ve never made anywhere close to $250,000 in a year.

Yeah ok, so the jobs are supposed to last but doesn’t that seem like an awful lot of money to spend when we don’t even know if it’s going to work?

Nancy, Nancy, Nancy

Direct quote from Nancy Pelosi, the illustrious Speaker of the House

“Every month that we do not have an economic recovery package 500 million Americans lose their jobs”

When did we get the extra 200 million Americans and when did all the babies start working?

Is it something in the water?

Another Democrat Obama appointee who didn’t pay his taxes? Now Tom Daschle, Obama’s pick for health and human services secretary didn’t pay his taxes like the rest of us. He owed $140,000 in back taxes. That’s more than most of us make in a year and he owed it in taxes.

Tim Geitner, Obama’s pick for Treasury Secretary was confirmed despite his problems paying taxes.

Of course you have to go to Fox News to see much about these stories. Mainstream Media doesn’t like to talk about the Emperor and his clothes.

Imagine the uproar if it was a Republican and his choices.
