We cleaned the garage today. Well, Jenny, Micah(Jenny’s friend), Ann, and Betty did most of the cleaning. Actually Jenny and Micah but Ann and Betty did some. Patrick did some too but he was the most help on the dishwasher.
Ok, I’ll start at the beginning. A few years before we moved into this house we bought a new GE Quiet Power Dishwasher. It was a very nice model but had a few problems which were covered by the warranty. When we bought the house and moved in there was already a Kenmore dishwasher so we put the GE in the garage. I’ve been planning to replace the Kenmore for a long time but as long as it was working I couldn’t quite justify the effort.
Finally this week I was told the soap dispenser wouldn’t open anymore. I figured this was a perfect time to do the job and I wanted to get the garage cleaned out too. Since the GE was all the way in the back it was perfect.
I got a small trash bin delivered yesterday and then today we all went to work.
I had to go to Home Depot to get the fittings to plumb it. I just needed a few adapters and the old one was actually hard wired into the wall. I got an electrical box and just put an outlet in it and left it under the washer.
Patrick helped a LOT with getting under the sink and unhooking/hooking hoses. He’s a bit smaller than me so it was easier for him to do.
We now have a “New” 12 year old dishwasher installed. I was a little worried that the hoses would be brittle but everything seems fine. It ran through it’s cycle and seems to work like it should. I’ll take a picture later. It’s not quite straight so I need to move one of the brackets before I do.
Ann and I went grocery to pick up dinner. We both had trouble breathing after a while and used our inhalers because of the dust. Every time something stopped working on the old (It was after all over thirty years old) Kenmore dishwasher – like the rinse aid and soap dispenser, I would fix it or not use it.
I love this “new” dishwasher and am so glad it was installed.

The old one probably stopped working because Obama signed the stimulus package.

Did you see your critter friend in the garage?

Isn’t uncluttering great fun? Once you start, it can become an obsession. I was bored the other day and looked for a drawer or cupboard to clean out, but none needed it. It was pure heaven!
Daryl, I laughed out loud.

Your dishwasher was trying to beat my clothes dryer. We bought it second hand, and 40 years later, Dad took it apart and removed a blanket full of lint. (I don’t know why it didn’t catch fire; it was so full). But then, it took off working like a new one. When we sold the El Uno Minor place, it went right along. Of course, all it does is dry clothes on one temp. but that’s what you mostly do with them anyway. I can’t even remember what the brand was.

Maybe when you come visit you can help me unclutter.

You’re talking to Donna right? She said she loves to unclutter. 😉

I’m very sure neither of you wants me near your “stuff” when I am in an uncluttering mood.

Of course we all know who the champion “unclutterers” are, don’t we? Who moved from a 3,500 square foot house into a 350 square foot RV?
