We’ve had the Hyundai Sonata since 2004 and Betty figured it was time to replace it.
We were thinking about getting another Hyundai but then Daryl mentioned that we should take a look at the Toyota Camry Hybrid. It’s the top rated Sedan on CR now with a 93. The only vehicle above it is the Tesla but we don’t have $100k for a car. We also didn’t want to spend $30,000 on a car but we were willing to spend 2/3 of that so I started looking at used ones.
Last night I found a 2011 with under 22,000 miles for about $4,000 less than all the other ones of that basic year I had been seeing. The only problem was it was in Carlsbad which is near San Diego and about 110 miles from home.
We decided it was worth it to drive down there so today Betty, Jenny, Patrick and I went down and we went ahead and bought it.
Here’s some pics.
Let us know how you like the hybred. Is is kind of like a Prius with battery assist?

So far (110 miles) we like it a lot.
It’s exactly like a Prius except it looks like a real car. 😉

Beautiful! Same color as my 2010 Accord. I bet you’ll be very happy with it, and especially with the gas $avings. What’s the average mpg? How does it ride?
P.S. It might be time to change your snowy WP theme. Didn’t it reach 100° this past weekend? Unless this it meant to psych us into feeling cool. 😉

Donna: It gets around 33 MPG and rides very nice.
I thought about changing the theme just before I read your comment. Yes it was time.

Looks great! Wish I could get a ride. I also love your ocean view.

Hey Don! I have been in the no-cell zone so long I have missed all the new stuff you posted. Sorry I didn’t stop on my way through. The only weekend I could make work was Mothers Day and I didn’t want to impose then. I’ll make it later though. By the way, your blog formats perfectly to my mobile phone. How did you do that?
Comment by Dale — Monday May 20, 2013 @ 3:42 pm
Dale: I didn’t do it. The person who made the theme must have done it.
Mom: We would like to take a trip to Phoenix but we will probably wait until after the summer, although I guess there are always swimming pools.

Nice ride! Would love to see it.

Very nice.
How about a 2 week update.

Have we had it only 2 weeks? It seems like more.
When we bought it the gas tank was full and we had to drive 110 miles home. Betty has been driving it every day and I even took it to work once. We still haven’t put gas into it.
I drove it yesterday and it said it still had 77 miles range left. I think this will certainly lower our gas bill.
Betty loves it and so do I. When I drive I try to see how much I can do on just electric. I can usually drive most of the way home on electric once I turn into our sub-division.
