I’ve wanted a Mac for a while but I couldn’t justify spending much on one. I finally looked on Ebay and found an old iMac located out in Oxnard and the bid was at $2.25. I bid $2.50 and put in a max bid of $5.00. I didn’t think there was any chance but a few days later I was told I won. The guy who had it sent me a message asking if I was going to pick it up or did I want him to ship it. I said I would drive out on Saturday and so today Betty and I did.
He said it turned on but he didn’t have a mouse or keyboard so he didn’t know if it worked. When I got it home I plugged in a mouse and turned it on. It works like a champ. I will need to get a keyboard but that should be around $5 too. Not really sure what I’ll do with it but I’ve been wanting to relearn the Mac OS so this is perfect.
Now that’s a deal.

That looks like the one I used for our newsletter when I was at the American Cancer Society (about 23-25 years ago). What year is this one?

It’s not that old Donna. It’s only 10 years old. It was made in 1998.

That’s not even as old as my current desktop PC.

Your desktop has to be newer than this. It’s only got a 233 MHz processor in it with 32 MB of RAM and a 4 GB hard drive.

Today I got it on the internet. Connected to yahoo.com with IE 4 and was told my browser wouldn’t work on yahoo. Connected with Netscape something and was told the same thing. I found a newer version of IE, 5.1 or something and it told me the same thing. I find it a bit odd that yahoo requires something newer than IE 5.

Why didn’t you try Firefox or Safari?

Very good question. The answer is both of those need OS X which I didn’t have installed. I had 8.5. I’m currently installing OS X so those will both be an option.
