  1. What is that?

  2. I’m nearly as confused as Robin, except that I know what I should be looking at! I can’t see the barn, which should be visible. In a larger map, I see the county line road. At least, it brings back memories.

  3. OK–the county line road runs in front of the house, so I think that the “picture” of it should be turned 90ยบ clockwise. Then I can see the house. Grandpa also owned land on the other side of the road.

  4. Robin: It’s the farm Grandpa Lafferty grew up on and Uncle Dale ran for quite a while. It’s the “family farm” that all your Lafferty aunts and uncles loved going to when we were younger.

Mom: The reddish/brown building is the barn. The house is a bit harder to see but it’s “below” the barn by a bit. I don’t know what that building is that’s not perpendicular.

I posted this because everytime until last night that I would look for it on Google maps the resolution was so bad you couldn’t pick anything out. It’s finally good enough you can see enough to figure out what’s what.

I would love if someone familiar would make some links to places like the Rileys and such. I know about where they lived but not near enough to place it. As for other people who lived there I could only place Norman’s farm because it’s so close to the other one.

  5. This is pretty cool where you have posted a live google picture in your blog.

Follow County Line Road (Rawson Road) south for a ways and you come to Cuba Lake. Keep going till you are south of Highway 17 and you come to Cuba. On the East side of Cuba is Hill Street where we lived as little kids; “This is the house that Don built”.

Up the hill behind the house is the train tracks. Follow the tracks north-east for a little ways and come to “Hidden Canyon”, which Don is probably too young to remember.

I could point out some more landmarks, but that will do for now.

  6. I see 5 houses on Hill St. Which was ours?

I don’t remember anything to speak of from Cuba except freezing mud balls in the garage. I have no idea why I remember that but it’s the only thing I’ve ever recalled from there with any clarity.
