McCain ahead in Zogby poll?

Filed under: Politics — don @ 1:35 pm

This came from the latest Zogby poll website. What is going on here?

Pollster John Zogby: “Is McCain making a move? The three-day average holds steady, but McCain outpolled Obama today, 48% to 47%. He is beginning to cut into Obama’s lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all. “Obama’s lead among women declined, and it looks like it is occurring because McCain is solidifying the support of conservative women, which is something we saw last time McCain picked up in the polls. If McCain has a good day tomorrow, we will eliminate Obama’s good day three days ago, and we could really see some tightening in this rolling average. But for now, hold on.”

  1. I have feeling that it is mostly wishful thinking. We will know more in three days.

  2. Well, this isn’t wishful thinking. This is fact. Thinking McCain will win the election is probably wishful thinking but the poll thing is true.

  3. Zogby is an anomaly. Most of the polls done in the last day or two show Obama still up by a lot, around 6%, with only a slight narrowing of his lead over the past week.

    FiveThirtyEight is predicting 344 – 194 Electoral, and 52.2% – 46.6% popular.

Pollster.com’s poll summary has Obama up 50.1% – 44.0% popular.

USA Election Polls’ poll summary has Obama up 334 to 185 Electoral, and 48.8% – 41.6% popular.

  4. Quite impressive numbers Daryl. I guess you won’t have to vote at all. I hope all of the other liberal/socialists that believe polls shouldn’t vote either since that polls have Obama clearly winning the election.

  5. This is a one-day poll. I think the ones you posted are 3 day but regardless this is very interesting. Dick Morris thinks the ads that talk about Wright are actually driving this.

  6. Scott,
See my comment here (#5 and #6) for my feelings on whether the election is over yet.
