There is a new version of Akismet available. I got to thinking it wasn’t working all that well because I’ve gotten several over the last few days. When I went into the Akismet page I realized I’m just getting hit at a very high rate and it does catch almost all of it. I decided to check if there was a new version anyways and there is. It includes this nifty little widget that tells how many spam it’s caught. At the time of this writing it had caught 7055. What’s it up to now?

I turn off comments on any message before the current one. Even without Akismet, running an earlier version of WordPress, I get almost no comment spam.
It seems it takes them a while to find the new postings, and by the time they do, it is already blocked.
You get a lot of comment spam!

I wondered how you kept from getting spam when you were running nothing to protect you. Now I know. You cheat. 😉
I think the fact I get so many attempts just shows who’s got the most interesting blog. 😛

You do get a lot of spam. I’ve only had 519 since installing Aksimet several months ago when you were here.You’ve had almost half that in just a day.
Maybe you should try Daryl’s trick.

Maybe I should try his trick but they have only recently been showing up and not being caught.
I post stuff online daily with my email address so that’s probably why I get so much.
