Antonio Must Go!

Filed under: Politics — don @ 8:31 am

I think it’s time to recall our mayor. I wasn’t real crazy about him when he got elected and I’m even less so after last week. Some would say I’m a racist but I don’t think race has anything to do with why I want him out.

As most of you heard, last week we had a protest demonstration in Los Angeles that was estimated at 500,000 or more. They weren’t protesting the war, they were protesting our government’s plan to turn a crime that is currently a misdemeanor into a felony.

I understand why they cross our borders. I understand that Mexico isn’t the greatest place to bring up your family but there is a legal process to come to this country. Following that process became so much more improtant after 9/11. There are thousands and thousands who want to see every man, woman, and child in this country dead. Nothing would give them more joy. That’s why we must protect our borders and know who we are letting in. That’s why it must be a crime to cross the border.

But what about Antonio you ask. What did he do? Well, he was the greeter to these 500,000 people. He stood on the steps of City Hall and told these people they were right and that he agrees with them. In other words our mayor told people he thinks it’s ok to break the law if you don’t agree with that law. Did I mention he was a member of Mecha? Mecha is an orginazation who’s primary purpose is to take back(liberate) Aztlan. Of course Aztlan includes California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and parts of a few other states.

And now he’s the mayor of the second largest city in the US. If that doesn’t scare you I don’t know what will.

  1. I sympathise with the masses of poor south of the border who just want a better life. Can we blame them for looking in the windows of the “rich man’s house” and feeling like it’s not fair they can’t share the bounty?

But I don’t think the solution is to ignore the law. If it’s OK for anybody to come into the country, then maybe the law should be changed to open the borders completely! If that’s not a good idea (I don’t think it is), and the law stays on the books, then the law should be enforced.

The House and Senate and President are all proposing new legislations that address the issue. I don’t think any of the proposals solves the problem, but at least people are thinking about it.

I’m uncomfortable about the proposals of amnesty. It’s saying that if you can sneak into the country and hide long enough, you can beat the people who are trying to enter legally and have been patiently waiting in line.

  2. Hold on, Antonio Banderas is your mayor?

Kidding. Actually, my cousin is Deputy Mayor. Kevin Acebo. Talk about your liberal creds. Might as well flash them, as I appear to be your token lib.
