Betty and I have been wanting to go back to Las Vegas for a short vacation. The last time we were there was our 5th wedding anniversary so it’s been almost 12 years. I get emails from a thing called Travelzoo which has good prices on various vacation type stuff. It had a deal for a room at the Signature by MGM for about half price. We were going to stay there but then we happened to look at a the Luxor and one of the rooms has a Spa built in. Betty really liked that idea and I’ve always wanted to stay at the Luxor so that’s where we will be going. We plan to drive over on August 29th and then back to LA on the 31st.
The day after we made reservations there Jocelyn contacted me about them coming out to Phoenix. She said they wanted to do it between Sep 1st and 8th and did I want to come over then? Heck yes we did!
We started thinking about where we would stay and what we would do and thought we could ask Heather to put us up for a few nights and maybe stay in a hotel for a few nights. I am a firm believer in the old saying that house guests are like fish. Both start smelling after a few days. I dislike asking someone to put us up for very long.
Then the night before last I was talking to Heather about the trip when it hit me that we could maybe see the Grand Canyon on our way from Vegas to Phoenix. I was looking at options and we could stay in the park, stay in Williams, or stay in Flagstaff. I’m leaning towards a night in the park but we’ll see.
Last night we looked at prices to see the Blue Man Group while in Vegas. It’s almost $100 a ticket. Not sure if we’ll do that but since Betty really wants to see them and we’ve never done a show in Vegas we probably will.
This will be the first time that just the 2 of us have gone on a trip this long. We are looking forward to it. And of course right in the middle of it is our 17th anniversary and Joce and Erics something something anniversary.
We’ve stayed in a spa room at the Luxor twice. Great fun! The rest of your trip sounds good too.

You can get Blue man way cheaper than that! We bought them while in vegas the day before for like $60. We were way over on an end row but the show was so great I don’t feel like we missed a thing! Enjoy Blue Man, it is great!

I’ve seen Blue Man Group and they were great. However, Brian and Carrie saw Blue Man and also a show at the Wynn and said the Wynn show was far superior. (Can’t remember what it was, but I can ask if you’re interested.)

I am interested Donna. Not sure when we will be buying tickets since it sounds like Heather got BMG ticks cheaper just buying the day before. I would be interested in what B & C saw.

It was La Reve at Wynn Encore, which is a water acrobatics show (on the order of Cirque de Soliel over fountains). He said it was spectacular, but more expensive than BMG.

I was with B&C when we saw Le Rev and it was spectacular but show tickets for that are well over $100. I thought BMG was well worth what we paid.

Okay we now have tickets for staying at the Grand Canyon. We are going to stay one night at the Maswik Hotel. Then we will be in Phoenix on the 1st. I think we would kind of like to stay at a hotel on our anniversary but would love to stay at Heather’s the previous 2 days.
I also think we’ll probably do BMG and get tickets the day before like Hegs suggested.

Sounds good. I have to work half day on the 1st and all day on the 2nd. I am open on the 3rd, Carsten won’t have school, but Camden will.

So now I’m hoping to spend the first 2 days at Daryl’s, the 3rd night at a hotel(it’s our anniversary), and the 4th at Heather and Marks.

Sounds like a good NEW plan. I won’t have to run off to work if you stay here on the 4th. The boys won’t be at school either.
