In addition to this excellent article here’s one I really hope Joce and Eric read. It explains in easy to understand logic how Obama is actually going to raise your taxes even while he says he won’t.

The quotes in the linked article sound just like the person I want to be president. Of course, not necessarily how they are interpreted by the inaccurate comments someone put after some of them.

Don said: “It explains in easy to understand logic how Obama is actually going to raise your taxes even while he says he won’t.”
The article bases it’s thesis that our taxes will increase by claiming that Obama will let the Bush tax cuts expire for everyone. But according to Obama’s website, only those making over $250,000/year will “give back a portion of the tax cuts they have received over the past eight years”. Even in that case, “no family will pay higher tax rates than they would have paid in the 1990s.” And importantly, the Bush cuts will remain in effect for those in lower tax brackets and in fact be increased.
All this talk about socialism and extreme taxation ignores the facts. Obama is only proposing a move back towards some of the more progressive tax rates we have seen in the past century, but by no means the most liberal or progressive. Nothing in his plan proposes increasing taxes or eliminating the Bush cuts for the middle class.
If it does, and I missed it, please point it out.
There’s more here, where FactCheck.org supports my contentions above, and also points out that even McCain supports a progressive tax system. It isn’t that McCain opposes “spreading the wealth”, but just disagrees with Obama on how much.

“It’s not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
“The point I was making was not that Grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn’t. But she is a typical white person…”
“To the extent that we’ve got a fiscal crisis right now, part of it is prompted by a bullheaded insistence on the part of the president, for example, that we should extend all of his tax cuts, make all of them permanent.”

And your point is…?

I don’t expect you to get my point. You don’t care about his character.

Then explain how what he said reflects badly on his character. Seriously, they sound like honest, sincere statements to me.

I get really tired of explaining this stuff when you don’t really care. The first statement shows how arrogant and elitist he is. The second statement shows how he’s actually a racist even though he claims he isn’t. The third statement shows how he actually wants to raise everyone’s taxes. I know you’ll disagree with that but restating his lies doesn’t change the fact they are lies.

I don’t think I ever said I supported a progressive tax system. I’m not terribly fond of McCain but he’s easily the lessor of the 2 bad choices.

Here’s another story breaking today about how honest Obama is.
