That’s beautiful. Were they really that much higher than anything around them? I don’t think that I ever saw a picture like this one.

I thik they were a lot taller than anything in the immediate vicinity.

We will be at ground zero in a little over 3 weeks. It should be a very moving experience.

I was thinking tonight that every generation has its symbol. The Revolutionary War had Lexington and Concord which they never forgot, along with “One if by land, two if by sea”. Most people remember that the Civil war started at Fort Sumter–we went there once, and our generation had Pearl Harbor. Nearly every was had one symbol which became a watch word for a war. I noticed that people my age are not as affected by 9/11 as younger people are. At least, this was an interesting observation to me. And how thankful we should be that a war on this continent has been diverted.

Thank you for the reminder. I still can’t think about it for too long or see pictures of it or I get teary eyed. This affected me more than Vietnam did even though my husband was there. I guess when you’re young and naive the reality of what might be doesn’t sink in, unfortunately.
