We were in Trader Joe’s tonight getting some Clam Chowder when they made an announcement over the PA system. They said, “If you would like to see some rare weather for LA go look outside. It’s hailing.”
We went to the front of the store and sure enough it was hailing pretty heavy. We watched for a few minutes and it got heavier. We finally got into the car because it wasn’t slowing down. It stopped a few blocks down the street after we left.
We expected stuff like this when we were in Wisconsin but not here.
That storm is supposed to hitting us here in Arizona tomorrow (Sunday). Hope we get some rain out of it — the wild flowers are starting to slow down as the ground dries out. Another good rainfall should extend the season a few more weeks.

We are between you and Daryl. We had strong winds all day yesterday with blowing dust. This morning we woke to the sound of light rain on the roof, but by 9 the sun was shining. There are scattered clouds but our batteries are charging nicely.
I remember hail when we lived in So. Cal. It’s not a common event, that’s for sure. Now all the car dealers will have “hail damage” sales. Of course it’s just an excuse for a sale because there won’t really be any damage unless the hail looked like the stuff we got in Texas. Baseball sized and larger falling from the sky can be serious.

This hail was no larger than a third of an inch if that. Some of it was larger than 1/4 inch but not much. The weirdest part is that it lasted for close to 10 minutes and actually had the ground covered.

We just got almost a foot of snow here 🙁

FYI — we means Don and me. The cashiers went out in the hail and when they came back, it looked like they had quarter inch diamonds in their hair. The noise of the hail was incredibly loud.
