I hope some liberal helps me understand this because it’s hurting my head. Democrats are against the Bush tax cut and want to let it expire or roll it back completely. But now Democrats want to send money back to taxpayers and even non-taxpayers to “stimulate the economy”. Isn’t that similar to what Reagen did? Isn’t that what Republicans have always said? When did the Democrats become conservative?
Oh wait, I think it was when an election was close at hand!
I think it may be that the Bush tax cuts were more favorable to higher income and wealthy individuals and businesses, while the proposed tax rebates would target lower income people.
At least that’s how I read it.

That’s all well and good except the Bush tax cuts were only favorable to people who actually paid taxes. You do know the top 1% pay 37% of the taxes right? Isn’t it fair to give back a little more to those who pay more?

The Economy in not in the toilet. There was a 7% drop in the unemployment rate late month. Which is now the lowest in the last 3 yrs. Oil may be high, but the Big Oil guys are now making money on it. They were scraping by at pumping oil at $35 dollars a barrel but at 90 they fat cats. Sub-prime lending was a a shame but the Democratic Congress allowed it. So housing is hurting right now but that will burn itself out unless we start throwing welfare dollors toward the less than intelligent.

I personally could really use the rebate, so, I’m all for it.

Please don’t call it a rebate. A rebate suggests you paid something and they were giving some back to you. Call it welfare or socialism instead since it’s really a redistribution of wealth. And that said I’m not against it for people who actually paid taxes, I just wonder why all those Democrats have changed their MO.
A better way would be lowering the amount of tax you had to pay in the first place.

I’m considering it a rebate, because I paid to much anyways. The pple that didn’t pay anything and are getting money… just shouldn’t.

ppl who made less then 3000 dollars do not get any rebate.. our store was closed for remodel so i didnt work much but had to pull my retirement out to pay for things and then paid hugh taxes on that as well as paying my taxes last year.. however, i dont think i will be getting a check from the government cause im too poor to give money too.. that’s how i read that one.. not to mention, only and ONLY if the government passes the bill with quick approval, things will start to process in may and we MAY start receiving checks by july.. check these out….

We have decided to use ours for New York. Not that I think it will fix any of our problems, and will probably just lower the value of the dollar by giving away money.
