John Kerry is the gift that keeps on giving. Not only did his flip flopping in 2003 help Bush win his second term now he’s trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory for the Democrats in 2006.
If you’ve been under a rock for the last few days here’s a summary. On Monday Kerry said this while talking to a group at Pasadena City College:
“you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well.
“And if you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq,”
Of course this touched off a firestorm from the Repubs demanding an apology so on Tuesday Kerry said this:
“I apologize to no one”
Finally today after some pretty strong pressure from other Dems Kerry said this:
“I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.”
Flip flop, flip flop. At least we know the drill. I read a quote by Dick Cheney who told a crowd:
“He was for the joke before he was against it.”
Now the part that makes me a bit miffed. Democrats are saying “Kerry is not on the ballot so why are the Republicans focusing on him?”
Let’s try this then. George W. Bush is not on the ballot so why are the Democrats focusing on him?
The reason is the Democrats plan for Iraq is the opposite of whatever Bush is doing. Never mind that to cut and run would leave the US in grave danger. They really don’t care as long as they get the power. What happened to the party of Harry Truman and John Kennedy?
After the fiasco that has been GWB’s presidency, anything anyone else does or has done has to be considered pretty low on the ridiculous scale.
