Fryin’ Turkeys

We got a turkey fryer about a month ago for half price. Today we finally used it. It took about 40 minutes to fry a 13 lb turkey and is it good! It was dark brown on the outside but moist and tender on the inside. I think I’ve found the best way to do turkey. I wonder how a tri-tip would be?

  1. I’ve heard that this is a good way to make turkey. I’ve wondered if it makes it greasy.
Do you set it up in the back yard? That’s a lot of heat and a lot of hot oil to have in the house.

  2. I think it’s the only way I’ll ever make a turkey again. It wasn’t greasy at all.

The picture here is my driveway. With 3 1/2 gallons of 350 degree oil you don’t want it anywhere near flammable objects. Actually the danger is having it boil over. Oil burns pretty well if you get it hot enough.

  4. We hadn’t seen them before moving to TX but found they are the easiest and fastest way to cook those big turkeys. They have inserts you can use to put several whole fryers on, too. The one flavoring we tried I didn’t like but I’m sure there are several that would be good.

  7. o.k…. I know nothing about farrells but I’m guessing it’s really nice or sentimental. Hope you had fun. Our anniversary wasn’t the funnest. We went to Chicago for somethin w/ Eric’s family, and they forgot it was our anniversary. The worst part was I got horribly car sick(which is very normal when I’m in the back of his mom’s van when she drives.) But, We had a really good Saturday and Monday, so it makes up for it. And we got a kitten. She’s so cute.

  9. I grew up with Farrells. Read about the history. Each birthday person gets the dinner bell, siren, and bass drum pounding while they sing a special Happy Birthday song.
