In 1840, he and his wife Ruth, joined their daughter, Charlotte and her husband, Joseph Turner, in Erie Co. OH

Copy of his discharge from the army following the Revolutionary War in my possession. Enlisted in Warwick, RI, 03 Jan, 1781 in Col. Jeremiah Olney's regiment. Was in the action of taking Lord Cornwallis. Was discharged in Saratoga, NY, 03 Jan. 1784

Dianna found the parentage, etc. for Joseph in a CD re: RI families who migrated to NY in the 1700's.

In the 1820 Census, joseph is listed as having 1 male up to 10-John, 1 male 10-16-Potter, 2 males 16-26-Daniel and Thomas, 1 male 45 & over-Joseph, 1 female up to 10- Fannie, 1 female 10-16-Charlotte, 1 female 16-26-must have been Loasie, and 1 female (rest of page is missing (Ruth was over 45 at the time. I wasn't sure until working this out what gender Loasie was.

In 1830, in Independence, Allegany Co. NY, where Fanny was born.

From "History of Allegany County, NY 1895":

Joseph N Remington, English immigrant to RI, served in the Revolutionary War seven years, came to this town very early, a pioneer, and took wild land on the farm now owned by W Crandall. His son, Daniel S, born 1801 came with his father and his was the first marriage in town. His wife was Eliza, daughter of Erastus Eaton. Their home was on the homestead taken by his father. He was a farmer, a deacon of the 7th Day Baptist and passed most of his life in town dying in Andover in 1887. Of his six children, Jerome F Remington born May 30, 1831 married Aurilla Bloss in 1852 and located in town. His wife dying in 1853, he married Mary, daughter of Lewis B Fish in 1856 and settled at Green's Corners as a wagon maker. In 1862 he enlisted in Co. E, 130th NY, and served with his regiment until discharged in July 1865, except four months in the hospital. From 1865 to 1890 he was a carpenter and a farmer. His wife died in 1889, and he married Selina Green. In 1890 he became a merchant in Green's Corners. He has three children by his second wife, Cora M, Fannie A, and Lenna E.
