David's will, which he signed Mar 10, 1815 and was proved Feb. 5, 1828, he names all of his children except for Elizabeth. He bequeathed his pew at the Baptist Meeting House at Charlton to his beloved wife Hannah. John and Asa received all the real property according to Worcester County Probate 7908

At age 21 moved to Hamilton, Chenango (now Madison Co), NY on foot with an axe and surveyor's instruments. David first located on lot 36 and afterward on lot 28 in Hubbardsville where he built a grist and saw mill. This area was to become known as Dunbar's Mills. He operated the mills until about 1850 as well as farming. The 1850 US census had David living at Hamilton, Chenango, NY M432, R527, 80. He sold the farm to his son James H on 7 Apr 1846 according to Madison Co Deeds, Bk 366.

David served on the Grand Jury in 1825. He also served as President of Madison County Horticultural Society according to "Names and Sketches of the Pioneer Settlers of Madison Co, NY" Interlacken:1984, p 80.
