Rushford - A 13 year old motorcyclist was pronounced dead on arrival at Buffalo Children's Hospital after his cycle was hit broadside by a car at 8:50 pm, Wednesday on State Rt 243, two miles west of its junction with State Rt 19 in the town of Rushford.

Troopers from the Wellsville substation of New York State Police said that Phillip Barber, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Barber, entered the roadway on his motorcycle, crossing in front of a vehicle driven by Mark H O'Mera, 24 of 56 N Main St., Alfred.

The Barber youth was taken first to Cuma Memorial Hospital then transferred to the Buffalo facility, where he was pronounced dead due to the head and internal injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, which was owned by Flashmark Inc, of Alfred and two passengers, Connie McGraw and Robert Pulos, both 18, and both of Alfred, were not injured.

The accident was investigated by Sgt. J R Ketchurn and Trooper M V Ingalls.

Funeral arrangements, under the direction of the Cline Funeral HOme, Rushford, are incomplete, and will be announced.

Phillip C Barber

Rushford - Phillip C Barber, 13 of Route 243, Rushford, was pronounced dead on arrival at Children's Hospital, buffalo, Thursday (July 22, 1976) due to injuries in a motorcycle accident.

Born July 30, 962 at Cuba Memorial Hospital, he was a son of James and Pauline Mulford Barber. Phillip would have been a freshman at Rushford Central School this fall.

Surviving besides his parents and two sisters, Gillian Barber and Jodie Barber, both at home, his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh (Ida) Barber of Black Creek and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mulford of Beverly, England.

Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Cline Funeral Home, Rushford. Funeral services will be held Saturday (July 24, 1976) at 2pm at the United Methodist Church in Rushford. The Rev. Jacob Denny, pastor of the United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in White Cemetery, Rushford.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Rushford Free Library.
