 Caleb DUNBAR, son of Samuel DUNBAR and Mary HAYWARD.Born 22 Mar 1760 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA, died 24 Dec 1811 at Pompey, Madison Co., NY, 51 years Ann Theopold Chaplin, G.G. "The Descendants of Robert Dunbar of Hingham, Massachusetts 1630-1693" Vol. 46 pg 368 AGBI (American Genealogical-Biographical Index) Living in Easton, Bristol Co. when he purchased land there. His brother Simeon and his brother-in-law, Daniel Snow, were witnesses to the deed dated 03 Mar 1790 (Bristol Co. Deeds 68:408). On 13 Apr 1789, Caleb and Hannah sold for £34 seven acres in the south precinct of Bridgewater to Peter Dunbar. This property joined the north side of Peter's homestead (Plymouth Co. Deeds 165-224). Caleb and his family arrived at Eaton, Madison Co. NY in 1799 (James Hadden Smith, History of Madison County, NY 1784-1880 [Syracuse, NY; 1880] xx; Register [1977] 131:195n). He purchased 107 1/2 acres of land in Hamilton, Madison Co while still "of Easton, Bristol County, Massachusetts" on 28 May 1799 (Madison Co. Deeds D:157). After Caleb died Samuel Guild of Easton was appointed guardian 08 Apr 1814 "to Joseph, George, John, Patty, all children of Caleb Dunbar and Hannah his wife, late of Pompey, Madison Co. NY (Bristol Co. Probate 132:183). Caleb's will is recorded in the Madison County Court House at Wampsville. Married 17 Nov 1782 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co. MA (18 or 19 years married) to:  Hannah DRAKE, daughter of Joseph DRAKE and Thankful PRATT.Born 9 Feb 1762 at Easton, Bristol Co., MA, died 1801 at Pompey, Madison Co., NY, 38 or 39 years Children: 1. Robert DUNBARBorn 23 Jun 1789 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co. MA, died before 1860 at Allegany, NY, at most 71 years Living in Alfred, NY according to the 1850 Census. Born in Bridgewater, Plymouth Co. MA, according to records from Suzanne Dunbar. In 1820 Census, Robert Dunbar lived in Eaton, Madison Co. NY, Page 58, Roll 73. Image 6400 . In Eaton, Madison Co. NY, 1840 Census, Roll 295, page 104, Lewis Peet was a resident--the closest I have found to think he might have been thr father of Phebe Peet. Bridgewater, Plymouth Co. MA has Dunbars buried in the Alden graveyard, sometimes called the Great Woods graveyard, lying north side of Taunton River in Bridgeport, below the mouth of Winatuxett River. 2.
