Last Friday morning at 4:30 o'clock, occured the passing from life for Mrs. Abbie Fish, aged 87 years, at her home, Vine Cottage, on Putnam Avenue, this village.

Keen of intellect and with a sense of humor fossessed by few, Mrs. Fish enjoyed life fully. She was a great reader and retained many choice bits of verse to impart to her friends. She was young in spirit and enjoyed having young folk about her. She wa active and about her home until Sunday October 29,1933 when she was stricken with a shock of paralysis from which she never rallied, although everything possible was done and the best care lavished upon her by family and friends.

The writer knew her as a kind helpful friend and one ready to assist whenever and wherever possible. Hers was a dominant spirit that bowed to none and asked few favors, yet she was ever ready to welcome to her home any and all of a large circle of friends and acquaintances.

Abbie Collins FISH wa born in Independence Township on February 23, 1848, daughter of Daniel F. and Rebecca Wood Collins. Soon after the close of the Civil War, (on Nov. 25, 1866) she was united in marriage to Ransom FISH, "my soldier boy" as she expressed it, and to them were born three daughters and one son. Mrs. Fish is the last of a family of seven children.

She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Etta Spicer, Beach Hill, Editor W.D. Fish, of Coudersport and Mrs. Ruhama Petterson of Akron, O., besides a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and nephews and nieces.

The funeral, held Sunday, Nov. 5, 1933, at 2 P.M. from the late home, was attended by a large number of friends. Interment was in Rural Cemetery, Whitesville, Allegany Co, NY in the family plot, Rev. Clara Morgan of Cohocton, NY officiating and Fred Wildman directing. Grandsons served as pall bearers.
