Job BRIGGS, son of John BRIGGS Jr. and Hannah FISHER. MA Records, vol 1, 1687-1745 Inventory of land: 105£ 13s.7d, viz:apparel, 18£ 3s1d, cash 10£, pewter warming pan, pair of worsted combs, sword, spinning wheel, 57 gallons rum, 2 hogsheads,cider, bible, testament, psalter, pair of oxen, cow, calf, and mare, homestead and 12 acres, 590£ and 37 acres of wild land, 139£. This homestead was on the east side of Little Compton, next to the Dartmouth line, now Westport, probably near Adamsville. His will also indicates he had land in Tiverton which was sold by the executor. Lived in Dartmouth, MA and Little Compton, RI and Tiverton, RI. He inherited the west end of house and 1/3 of homestead in Little Compton near Tiverton from his father and he apparently sold it to his brother John (no record of transaction has been found.) He appears to have lived in Portsmouth where he may have been a hatter. Birth of first 7 children recorded in Portsmouth, RI. He may have moved to Warwick about 1742-43 where last 4 children were born but there is no other evidence to support this. Possible birthdate 1712 from Sandy at In brother Enoch's will, he was to be left property, etc. after many twists and turns, and ifs and ands. Brother Enoch sounds like a very controlling person.
