Barber, loving mother and grandmother Black Creek - Dorothy A Barber, 64, of 6777 Crabb Hollow Road died Thursday (Nov. 25, 1999) at home. Born June 29, 1935 in Olean, she was a daughter of Daniel C and Francis Rogers Smith. On Nov 14, 1953, in Belfast, she married Duane Edward Barber Sr of Belfast, who survives. Mrs. Barber lived most of her life in the Cuba area. She attended Cuba High School and graduated from the New Penn Beauty School and the St. James School of Nursing in Hornell. She was a licensed cosmetologist and registered nurse. Mrs. Barber worked for many years at Cuba Memorial Hospital and at St. Bonaventure University Friary Infirmary prior to her retirement. She attended the Bellville Wesleyan Church. Surviving in addition to her husband are four sons, Duane E (Pam) Barber Jr. of Black Creek, Donn O (Tina) Barber of Virginia Beach, VA, Douglas E (Carol) Barber of Franklin, NH and Darren M (Linda) Barber of Cuba; a daughter Jewel A (Terry) Stuck of Durham, NC; five brothers, Larry (Cathy) Smith of Cuba, Lester Smith of Louisiana, Clarence Smith of Cuba, Joseph (Delores) Smith of Bradford, PA and Shawn (Betty) Smith of Olean; eight sisters Nancy (Jim) Lockwood of Franklinville, Donna (Jim) Good of Weston's Mills, Stella (Geroge) Reed of Great Valley, Paulette (Ken) Stives of Cuba, Susie Braley of Cuba, Beverly Lewis of Allegany, Debra (Dennis) Nagel of Jamestown and Bonnie Inwood of Jamestown; 12 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Charles Smith and Dan Smith and three sisters, Virginia Benjamin, Frances Smith and Shirley Van Druff and a step sister, Mary Stroup. Friends will be received from 2 tgo 4 and 7 to 9 pm today at the McIntosh Funeral Home (Nicholson Chapel) 24 Genesee Parkway, Cuba. Private funeral services will be held in the funeral home at the convenience at the family. The Rev. Al Bennett, pastor of the Bellville Wesleyan Church, will officiate.
