Obituary:

The people of this place were both surprised and shocked, Saturday evening, when a telephone message was received abbouncing the death of Mrs. A. W. Kear at Mansfield. Deceased had not been in the best of health for some time, but not until Thursday was she considered dangerously ill. The best physicians obtainable were called to her bedside and on Saturday it was thought that her condition was improving until death came to relieve her sufferings at a few minutes past 6 o'clock. The case was a puzzling one to the physicians who announce apoplexy as the final cause of death. What made it all the more pathetic was the dangerous illness of her younger brother Cass, who condition would not allow either the parents or the aunt, Mrs. Nancy Seger, to attend the funeral, and it was necessary for the sorrowing husband, accompanied by Rev. A. H. Simpson and P. A. Parker, to bring the remains to this place. The funeral service was conducted from the Methodist Church. Interment was in Rural Cemetery, Whitesville.

Bertha Lanphier Kear was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Lanphier, and was born at Whitesville, April 21, 1880. On June 6, 1900, she united in marriage with Arthur W. Kear, and that year they moved to Mansfield, PA, where Mr. Kear went into business.Obituary:
