Born on 22 Jan 1817 by grave marker--figuring backwards from grave marker stating that she was 87 yrs. 2 mo. 17 days at time of death, 11 Mar. 1904. More info states that she was married to Herman WHIPPLE. ???two marriages? 1875 Census of Rushford shows her a widow, 56 years of age, living in the household of Eber Lafferty. Allegany, NY Enlisted in Company F, 14th (one record says 13th) Regiment NY Heavy Artillery Sep. 3, 1864 at Caneadea; Co. D,13th NY Vol. Heavy Artillery; Transferred to Co F Regiment; discharged at Norfolk, Va, 24 May, 1865. Company records indicate that he was 5'10" tall, black hair, dark complexion, with hazel eyes. 1890 Census of Rushford says that he was in Company D, 13th regiment. Served 10 months. Records of Bellville cemetery state that the Bellville Cemetery Association was formed in 1891, with Eber Lafferty elected president. This constitution is still in force today. At age 51, he was a carpenter, prop. of saw mill, and farmer, living in New Hudson Twp., according to Rushford record, Post Office directory of 1874-75. Co. Declaration for Pension filed May 29, 1891. Permanent disability from rheumatism, neuralgia, and heart disease. Pension for his estate by his children also lists Hiram A. Lafferty of Springville, Erie, NY as brother, along with Riley Lafferty as administrator. Dated July 1, 1899. Also lists John G. Hames. (prob. judge) and Edwin H. Taylor. I just received a record stating that his birth was on 04 Jan, 1826. (Need to check) 8. John LAFFERTYBorn 17 Nov 1828 at Sardenia, Erie Co. NY, died 23 Apr 1904 at New Hudson Twp. NY, 75 years, buried at Pierpont, OH. Occupation: Blacksmith. 1880 Census lived in Pierpont, Ohio. John w m age 52 Blacksmith, b NY; Harriet w f ag 47 b. Ireland; Matilda M. w f age 16 b Ohio; Edwin M. Whipple w m age 36 b NY Atlas of Ashtabula Co. Ohio, pub by Titus, Simmons and Titus-1878--Pierpont Business District--John Lafferty, Proprietor of Black Smith Shop, p. 59. under Free and Accepted Masons. John died in New Hudson, but was buried in Pierpont, according to the town records of New Hudson. The 1880 Census of Pierpont only lists one child, there may have been more. Census of 26 Sep 1850 says John was living in Machias, Catt Co. NY, in the household of Ira Winslow, single, a blacksmith. 9. Was this one married in Nashville, Chautauqua Co? in 1854? Daniel W. was not old enough (14) if dates are correct. 12.
