1636 (some records say 1638)-Immigrated with parents, aunt and her children and older brother Richard aboard the ship"Bevis", setting sail in April from Southampton and landing at Boston Harbor 16 May. His father died soon after arriving in the colonies, and the bereaved family settled in Charlestown, MA.
1669-Made a Freeman
1674-Original proprietor of Suffield, CT, being granted 17 Jul, 50 acres along Feather Street.
1678-May-a Sergeant of a foot company at Suffield, noted in Major Pynchon's account book. 1681-12 Oct-promoted toLieutenant, being the first officer to command the foot company in Southfield (Suffield).
This company was engaged in frequent battles with the Indians.

Buried in old burying ground on High Street, Hampshire, MA, behind the meeting house (currently under the First Congregational Church which had been moved to make more room for the Commons). Her gravestone lies in the
cemetery west of the church, off of the south-west corner of the Church building. Tombstone inscription visible. On the Old Center Cemetery map, the plot is numbered A-88.
Tombstone reads: "Esther Avstin, the wife of Capt. Antony Avstin dyed March 7 1698 aged 55 years."
Is Suffield in CT or MA? I have both in different places. 2005--Suffield is in CT, according to my atlas.
