 Herman WHIPPLEDied 1842 Family info states that Herman died in a drowning accident before Edwin was born. His first name has not been determined for sure, however, Edwin's second marriage in Rushford, gives his gather's name as Herman. Married ± 1841 (approximately 1 years married) to:  Phoebe Boa LAFFERTY, daughter of Daniel LAFFERTY and Catherine SNYDER.Born 22 Dec 1816 at Sardenia, Erie Co. NY or Jackson Twp, Tioga Co, PA, died 11 Mar 1904 at Caneadea, Allegany, NY, 87 years, buried 1904 at Oramel, NY, 1st marriage to: Herman WHIPPLE, 2nd marriage to: William EDY Moved to Sardinia when a child. May have been born in 1803, by 1850 Machias, Cattaraugus Co. census. Born on 22 Jan 1817 by grave marker--figuring backwards from grave marker stating that she was 87 yrs. 2 mo. 17 days at time of death, 11 Mar. 1904. More info states that she was married to Herman WHIPPLE. ???two marriages? 1875 Census of Rushford shows her a widow, 56 years of age, living in the household of Eber Lafferty. That would have made her birthdate 1819. Child: 1. Edwin Martin WHIPPLEBorn 9 Dec 1842 at Sardenia, NY, died 18 Dec 1925 at Bath, Steuben Co. NY, 83 years, buried at Veterans Cem, Bath, Steuben, NY Birthdate may be incorrect.
