I’m glad they love us now

I remember one of the main points the left was making about Obama during the campaign was how he would make the world like us again. We had become hated only because George Bush was such a cowboy and made all those extremists want to kill us.

Well I for one am glad that Obama has made such a huge difference in how we are viewed. If not for him there might be terrorists trying to set off car bombs in Times Square.

Oh wait. Never mind…

Jessica’s almost home!

Not sure how many who read this are following Jessica Watson but if you are you know she’s almost home.

Jessica is a 17 year old girl who decided to try to become the youngest person to sail solo, unassisted, and non-stop around the world. She’s now a week or so from arriving home in Sydney Australia. I’ve been following her since a few days after she started in October and it’s been inspiring to read about her trials and joys. She’s had a few knockdowns and some huge seas in the 7 months she’s been sailing.

Abby Sunderland, a 16 year old from Southern Cal left a few months ago to try to beat Jessica’s pending record but she’s having to put in to port to fix a broken auto-pilot. That means she won’t be able to beat Jessica on the non-stop, unassisted part but she can still become the youngest to ever circumnavigate the globe. Abby’s brother was the youngest when he did it a few years ago.

I’ve got links to both girls over in my Links section. Pretty interesting reading if you’ve got some time.
