{"id":944,"date":"2014-06-20T18:50:53","date_gmt":"2014-06-21T01:50:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/donlafferty.com\/blog\/?p=944"},"modified":"2014-08-14T06:37:15","modified_gmt":"2014-08-14T13:37:15","slug":"what-is-a-lie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/donlafferty.com\/blog\/?p=944","title":{"rendered":"What is a lie?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I wrote this post back in October of 2013 but didn&#8217;t publish it so as to let some people cool down. \u00c2\u00a0I think it&#8217;s quite relevant now.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.5em; line-height: 1.5em;\">Definition of\u00c2\u00a0LIE<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>1<\/div>\n<div>a\u00c2\u00a0<strong>:<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0 an assertion of something known or believed by the speaker to be untrue with\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/intent[1]\">intent<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0to deceive<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>b\u00c2\u00a0<strong>:<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0 an untrue or inaccurate statement that may or may not be believed true by the speaker<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>2<\/div>\n<div><strong>:<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0 something that\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/mislead\">misleads<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0or deceives<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>3<\/div>\n<div><strong>:<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0 a charge of lying (see\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/lie[3]\"><sup>3<\/sup>lie<\/a>)<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8220;If you like your Doctor you can keep your Doctor.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div>Well that fits 1b and 2 quite nicely regardless of whether you believe Obama knew the truth or not. \u00c2\u00a0The fact is he lied. \u00c2\u00a0Did he know he was lying? \u00c2\u00a0I don&#8217;t know how he couldn&#8217;t have if he truly understood his bill but even if we accept that he didn&#8217;t really know it all that does is show that he is clueless.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8220;I learned about Fast and Furious when it appeared in the newspapers.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div>Again 1b and 2. \u00c2\u00a0Again the same charge.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In fact what becomes quite clear is that our president is either the most clueless president we&#8217;ve ever had or the most deceitful. \u00c2\u00a0He is always the last to know if we believe what he tells us. \u00c2\u00a0Do you think he really didn&#8217;t know the US was spying on our allies? \u00c2\u00a0We&#8217;ve been doing it for decades. \u00c2\u00a0I knew, how could he not know?<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This president has run our country into the ground. \u00c2\u00a0Those of you who voted for him have to at least be getting a bit of a clue that he&#8217;s not the savior you envisioned. \u00c2\u00a0The light must be coming on that all those things he promised you were just smoke and mirrors. \u00c2\u00a0Yes folks, this president has no clothes.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I wrote this post back in October of 2013 but didn&#8217;t publish it so as to let some people cool down. \u00c2\u00a0I think it&#8217;s quite relevant now.
