About My Teeth

When I was young I hated milk.  I don’t think that by itself hurt my teeth but I don’t think it helped.  I think milk helps your teeth to develop when you are young.  Something about the Calcium.

As I got older I still didn’t drink much milk but I did drink a lot of soda.  Soda is ok if you brush your teeth right after drinking it but I never did.  In fact the only time I would brush my teeth was in the morning before going to school or later, work.

Even older still, I drank a lot of beer and alchohol which is also bad for you teeth if you don’t brush.  Not only did I not brush but I didn’t go to the dentist unless I was in pain.  That usually got me in for a cleaning but they were few and far between.

By the time I was 50 I had finally quit drinking and at 53 I quit smoking but I still rarely went to the dentist.  I also only brushed in the morning.  That is certainly better than not brushing but it’s way far from what you should be doing.  You should really brush after every meal.

Now I’m 55 and doing something about all those years of bad stuff.  I brush at least twice a day now and I’m also flossing.  I will probably lose more teeth but that’s my fault and nobody elses.
