Feeling pretty good today December 31, 2008
Posted by Don in : General , trackbackI slept well last night and awoke feeling pretty good. I was out of pain almost entirely. The flipper still feels a little uncomfortable but it’s better today than yesterday. I’m actually sitting here with it out for a while. It feels better on the rest of my teeth this way but it’s impossible to do any eating with the stitches. I guess I should take some pictures of what it looks like now before I lose the opportunity. I’m not sure if I’m ready to post them but I should at least have them.
Thanks to all for their support and concern. I think this will end up pretty good but it’s going to definitely change my eating habits over the next 6 months.

You will get so used to all that hardware in your mouth that you will feel as though something is missing without it.
Man, retired and on the way to a new toothy smile and a bit of weight loss too! Happy New Year.
Speaking will be a challenge for a time. May I suggest watery to thick but not too lumpy soups and all the Jello you can find? Then after the stitches go, get a good food processor and grind up anything you want to gum a bit and swallow. A Burger King chicken sandwich or Arby’s roast beef is good. lol Possibly you can guess that I speak from experience. Another couple days and you’ll be good to go.
I don’t know this flipper but I suspect it is a temporary top plate. If it is, I fell in love with and wouldn’t leave home without one of my wife’s cardboard type fine fingernail files. They may not be approved by the American Dental Association but a gentle adjustment of a couple swipes on just the right high spot made my day many times.
The flipper is actually not that uncomfortable. I would prefer to not have it of course but it’s better than not having anything. I ate some egg salad sandwiches just now and it worked fine with the flipper in.
Those pictures are, umm…, interesting…
Glad I already ate!
Exaggerating, of course. Sounds like it has been relatively easy (so far).
