Been a long time since I’ve posted here. That’s because nothing has happened. I’m still using the flipper and still don’t have any implants. I kind of wish I had just continued and gotten the first 2 and then I could have at least had them put in the front teeth.

I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to afford what I really need. To do all the implants and get the upper it would be close to $30,000. Ouch?

I suspect I’ll have to go to false teeth for my upper before too long.

Now that I’m back to work I think I’ll be moving forward with the implants. I’m going to make an appointment soon and we’ll see what we decide.

Change of Plans

I went to see a Periodontist last week and now we have new plans. Seems that most of my upper teeth are not in great shape and to spend much time and money on them would be a waste. That means they need to come out. Ouch. My lower teeth are more or less ok and can be kept but now it looks like I’ll have a denture for my uppers. Since I’ve already started my implants we’ll have to see how this impacts what we do but I suspect we will be adding at least 2 more. An upper denture can be held by 4 implants. My dentist would rather have 6 so we’ll have to see. Stupid mouth just got more expensive.

I forgot to post when I went back to the oral surgeon a few weeks ago. Nothing much to report so it’s not a biggie. He said the bone graft was working and the healing looked good. I do have my first dentist appointment tomorrow since the surgery. Supposed to get a filling and will probably get appt for cleaning.

Just thought it might be time for an update. I’ve had the flipper for a little over 2 weeks now and I’m getting used to it. I still don’t talk normal and of course it modifies what I can eat but at least it doesn’t bother me much anymore.

Stiches out

I got the stiches out. There were only 3 and it didn’t hurt in the least. He gave me an antibiotic rinse to take care of some gum infection. Everything is moving along just fine. I’m getting more and more used to the flipper. I can take it out and put it in really quickly now. It takes just a second to do either.

I slept well last night and awoke feeling pretty good. I was out of pain almost entirely. The flipper still feels a little uncomfortable but it’s better today than yesterday. I’m actually sitting here with it out for a while. It feels better on the rest of my teeth this way but it’s impossible to do any eating with the stitches. I guess I should take some pictures of what it looks like now before I lose the opportunity. I’m not sure if I’m ready to post them but I should at least have them.

Thanks to all for their support and concern. I think this will end up pretty good but it’s going to definitely change my eating habits over the next 6 months.

Back to normal, almost

I feel almost fine after taking a nap and having the novacaine wear off. I do not care much for the partial. It changes my speech quite a bit. They say you get used to them, we’ll see. I haven’t taken it out yet as I’m not sure how to put it back. Hopefully the Dr. will call me later tonight. They said he would.

The pain is not bad. My CPAP mask rides right on the bone under my nose so that may be an issue. It hurt some when I woke up from the nap.

Nose itch

My nose is itching but I still have no feeling. Scratching it doesn’t really help.
